Questions about the free tools

Are these customs calculators free?

Yes. All five run in your browser on these pages, with no account and no sign-up.

Where do the formulas come from?

From the rule each calculator is about: CBP's guide to bond amounts, the Federal Register notice that sets the MPF, the statutes in Title 19 for deadlines and drawback, and the International Trade Administration's FTZ worksheet. The IEEPA estimator uses published rates. Every page lists its rules, values and sources with dates.

Can I put these numbers on a customs entry?

Use them to plan and to check the math, not to file. Your licensed customs broker files the entry and CBP sets the final amounts. GingerControl is not a customs broker and does not give legal advice.

How current are the numbers?

Each rule shows its source and date. Customs fees change every October 1 and tariff programs change often, so when a calculator runs on figures that have since been updated, its page says so.
